Percheron Horses

It all started as a mid-life crazy. Hardy and I were talking one day about how much fun it might be to have a team of well-trained draft horses. Well, within about 90 days we had our first team.

This is our first team, Bud and Charlie, in the Chuy’s Christmas parade in downtown Austin, Texas.  They are Percheron draft horses and we purchased them from a friend in Rhode Island. Know for their wonderful disposition, these horses were very popular in the United States around the turn of the century. They come from France where they were originally bred as war horses.

Unfortunately, we lost Charlie to cancer several years ago.  We sent Bud back to Rhode Island to team up with a new friend and purchased two mares that are half-sisters, May and Belle.
